Gods require belief.
While a God can be created by the weakest of beliefs they can never be wholly destroyed.
A God that has no other being that believes in it becomes an idea, unable to exert itself on any of the Spheres of Existence. They rely on an accidental rekindling of faith (see Rekindling of Tak as an example).
A God's ability to exert itself on one or more of the Spheres of Existence is directly proportional to the number of beings in each sphere that believe in it.
